‘Total loss’; Ohio animal rescue hopes to rebuild after devastating fire

PAULDING COUNTY, Ohio (WANE) — An Ohio animal rescue is forced to rebuild after a devastating fire early Saturday morning.

JAR, or Justice Animal Rescue, located in Grover Hills, Ohio suffered a devastating loss Saturday morning when they woke up to find their rescue facility in flames.

According to a Facebook post from JAR, Justice Animal Rescue, at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, owners called 911 when they woke up to find the rescue in flames. “Unfortunately by the time the fire department arrived on scene the building was already gone. All the fire department could do at this point was stop the fire from spreading to our home,” read the Facebook post.

The rescue experienced a “total loss” as a result of the fire, as all dogs in the rescue did not survive.

“The fire was a complete and total loss, we lost everything. We have no crates, no kennels, our outdoor dog area now needs major repairs, even the dog houses burned. All of our dog food is burned, our medications, vaccines basically everything we needed was in the building and now it’s all gone,” read the post.

JAR still has 45 dogs in foster families and hopes to continue to help other dogs in the area by offering them a place to call home. JAR has a GoFundMe started with hopes to rebuild their facility after the devastating fire.

“We appreciate everyone’s support during this hard time. We will be posting when we plan clean up efforts but for now we ask that everyone give us time to grieve and get the emergency supplies we need over the next few days to get us through,” the rescue said.
